Elsewhere Inside
This project reflects my experience of moving between two contrasting environments—Cairo and Kamp-Lintfort—and questions the belief that place alone determines our emotional state. Through my work, I explore how anxiety and inner struggles persist across different settings, shaped not only by surroundings but by memory, culture, and internal thought patterns.
Growing up amid Cairo’s constant movement and noise, I long believed the city was the source of my anxiety. However, relocating to a quiet village in Germany revealed an unexpected truth: silence can amplify the inner voice just as powerfully as chaos. This shift made clear that anxiety is not tied to place, but to the mental patterns we carry with us—highlighting that true calm does not come from our environment, but from within.
The artwork was part of “The Golden Narrative,” an exhibition organized by Medrar for Contemporary Art in Cairo, Egypt.
في مكانٍ آخر بداخلي
يعكس هذا المشروع الفني رحلتي بين عالمين مختلفين، ويطرح تساؤلًا حول ما إذا كانت البيئة وحدها هي التي تشكّل عالمنا الداخلي، أم أن الصراعات النفسية تستمر بغضّ النظر عن المحيط الخارجي. ومن خلال هذا المشروع، أستكشف العلاقة المعقّدة بين الإنسان والمكان، وهي علاقة تتشكّل بفعل الثقافة والذاكرة وإيقاعات الفكر والمشاعر.
نشأتُ في القاهرة، مدينةٍ نابضةٍ بالحياة والحركة والفوضى، ولعدة سنوات كنتُ أعتقد أن هذا المحيط هو مصدر قلقي. لكن بعد الانتقال إلى قرية هادئة في ألمانيا، اكتشفتُ أن الصمت يمكن أن يكون أعلى من الضوضاء، وأنه في هذا السكون يصبح الصوت الداخلي أكثر وضوحًا وحضورًا — لم يعد مكتومًا بسبب ضجيج المدينة.
من خلال هذه التجربة، أدركتُ أن القلق ليس مرتبطًا بالمكان، بل بأنماط التفكير التي نحملها داخلنا. فالبيئة الهادئة لا تجلب السلام تلقائيًا؛ إذ إن الصفاء الحقيقي يبدأ في العقل، من خلال تعلّم تفكيك هذه الأنماط الداخلية وتحويلها.
تم عرض هذا المشروع في معرض «الرواية الذهبية» قام بتنظيمه مدرار للفنون المعاصرة في القاهرة.
