NeuroTunes is a series of audio-reactive poster experiments that visualize scientific data on neurological and emotional responses to music. The project is based on the study Mapping Aesthetic Musical Emotions in the Brain, combining behavioral data and fMRI results to explore how the brain responds to different musical stimuli.
The work draws on a model of music-induced emotions by Zentner et al. (2008), which identifies nine emotional categories including joy, sadness, tension, wonder, peacefulness, power, tenderness, nostalgia, and transcendence. Using this framework, the project translates neuroscientific datasets into visual systems that respond to musical input.
By combining data analysis, parametric mapping, and visual experimentation, NeuroTunes transforms scientific findings into an accessible and visually engaging communication system. The project explores the intersection of music, emotion, and brain activity through data-driven poster design.
